I’ve been in HR a long time and would have sworn I’ve seen everything. I obviously have not seen or heard it all.
Where is HR in all of this? Where is the Employee Relations professional to talk some sense into someone? The employer’s liability is through the roof.
What if the gun given by the employer is used in a crime or worse a domestic dispute or murder?
What happened to the good old days when cash was king? Or a gift card to a local store that the employee can purchase any item including a gun?
I know where HR is – they are kicking a trash can through the parking lot while muttering “yes you do make the final decision. But I advise you not to (fill in the blank).”
